Gazetteer of Oerth Equipment

The Dangerous Journeys Mythus rules book includes a fairly comprehensive collection of equipment.  This list of equipment is not complete, but it is close enough for most games.  However, through the course of the Dark Mysteries Campaign, there has been a need to make tweaks and adjustments to the basic equipment, and to add magickal equipment, as well.

The following is a listing of new equipment added to the basic equipment list, with short descriptions on this page and extensive descriptions on the other ends of the links.

In the descriptions, if an item has "***" for the price, it is literally priceless, either due to the unique nature of the item, or due to its extreme scarcity.  If a price really needs to be found for the item, a baseline could be something in the neighborhood of 100,000 BUCs.  These items are never found on the open market, however.

For those weapons that list a WP formatted as "x + y", the "x" is the weapon's inherent WP.  The "y" is a bonus to BAC due to magicks.

NOTE: I am using the weapon notes defined in Mythic Masters Magazine Volume 1, Number 2.  If I can find a link, I'll add it.

Corrections for Swords: The rationale for the house rules that change existing swords in Mythus.  There are also definitions for parts of the sword.

New or Updated Weapons

  • Bow, Orc Siege: A massive bow, larger than a Dalesian Long Bow, used by orcs in static defenses.
  • Dagger, Parrying: Also called a Main Gauche, the Parrying Dagger is used in the offhand to deflect the opponent's sword.
  • Sword, Bastard: The updated version of the Bastard Sword from the Mythus rulebook.
  • Sword, Bastard, Renaissance: A late-era bastard sword equally usable for slashing or thrusting attacks.
  • Sword, Cut & Thrust: A late-era single-handed sword sometimes misnamed a rapier.
  • Sword, Estoc: A large two-handed thrusting sword used to puncture plate armor.
  • Sword, Rapier, True: A civilian sword characterized by a fine thrusting blade and extensive hand protection (updated from Mythus).
